Abigail Fakoya is a Nigerian-born, Grenada-raised visual artist, curator, and writer based in Essex and London. Her interdisciplinary practice examines the emotional and psychological landscapes of human experience, focusing on memory, identity, and the tension between suppression and expression. Through figurative abstraction, she uses colour, gesture, and fragmented form to explore how emotional states are shaped by cultural, social, and environmental factors.

Abigail holds a first-class BSc in Psychology from St. George’s University in Grenada and a Distinction in MA Curating from the University of Kent. Her academic and creative work is informed by an interest in emotional translation and narrative, as well as the influence of film and music as instuments for shaping atmosphere, memory, and internal worlds.

She has curated independent exhibitions that foreground care-led and community-based approaches, with a particular interest in underrepresented narratives and sensory experience in curatorial practice. In 2022, she co-curated Unveiled at The Beaney House of Art & Knowledge, an exhibition exploring identity and activism through ceremonial traditions and facial distortion. In 2024, she curated Radiant at Copeland Gallery in London, an immersive exhibition celebrating Black womanhood and joy, funded by Arts Council England.

Abigail currently works as Exhibition Production Manager at Gallery 1957 in London. Her broader research and professional interests include emotional aesthetics, the relationship between creative practice and psychological space, and the role of interdisciplinary storytelling in contemporary art and curating.
"Holy Spirit led, the name Mojun and this space was born from the desire to create and hold space for the exploration of joy and sweetness in creative practice."

The Mojun Art Space began as a personal exploration of the emotional landscapes that shape our identities and experiences. Through this platform, Abigail seeks to create a space where art and storytelling intersect, offering a window into the complexities of human emotion. As the platform evolves, the vision is to expand beyond individual practice, inviting other creatives to share their narratives and contribute to a collective tapestry of expression.

The goal is to cultivate a community that values emotional depth, authenticity, and the power of storytelling. By featuring diverse voices and perspectives, The Mojun Art Space aspires to be a dynamic platform that reflects the multifaceted nature of human experience and fosters connections through shared creative expression.
