A Kent County Council Funded art program created to facilitate a space for community for students at the University of Kent following the isolation caused by Covid-19.
I co-founded and ran the Blooming Brushes Art Program with a Colleague and curated the culminating exhibitions.
Funded by Kent County Council’s ‘Covid-19 Local Recovery Fund’, with extra funding from the Student Services department at the University, the Blooming Brushes Art Program was created to facilitate a community where students at The University of Kent could come together and share in the experience of learning new skills and creating something of their own.
We endeavoured to create a class of dedicated artists searching for ways to grow as individuals and to become
more involved with Canterbury’s community. The program featured 3 local artists who shared their passion and expertise with the students, and over a series of 5 sessions, the students truly bloomed. The program ended with 2 exhibitions; one at the University of Kent, and the other at a venue in the Canterbury town.
